Steve McCoy
Steve was born in Selma, Alabama, however his parents were from New York, so they moved back to Buffalo. Steve grew up listening to legendary WKBW. While in high school he and some of his friends received permission from the school administration to build a station in the school. After graduating, Steve attended Alfred College and worked at the campus station. An offer to work at a small station in Niagara Falls, WJJL, was the start of his career in commercial broadcasting. From there he went to WHFM in Rochester to do the evening shift. Steve wanted to do AM drive and got that opportunity when Ron Brandon offered him the morning show at legendary Spartanburg Top 40, WORD. After a four year run, Dan Vallie offered him mornings at 92Q. In February of 1981, John Young asked him to replace Ross and Wilson at Z93 in Atlanta. He remained there until 1987 when he joined Power 99. He then left Atlanta, for KVIL in Dallas. In 1989, Steve returned to Atlanta to once again team with Vikki Locke for mornings at Start 94. They remained there until 2007. Steve is active in Atlanta community work with The Starlight Children's Foundation and is a founding member of The Children's Healthcare "Strong Legs Run". Steve is a hockey fan and enjoys boating.
