Harry Beadle
Harry Beadle’s radio career began at Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis) and its campus radio station, WTGR. Harry’s first job in commercial radio was at WCLD in Cleveland, MS, and after stints at WRBC/WJMI in Jackson, MS, WETE in Knoxville, TN, and WMC and WREC in Memphis, TN, Harry was hired by WGST in Atlanta in 1976. During 20 years at WGST as a news anchor and investigative reporter, His work was honored by the Associated Press, United Press International, the Society of Professional Journalists, the Radio and Television News Directors Association, the Georgia Association of Broadcasters, the American Red Cross, as well as a national award from Investigative Reporters and Editors. In 1997, Harry was hired by the CNN Radio Network, heard on 2,000 affiliates across the U.S. and in 52 other countries. During 13 years at CNN Radio, Harry garnered three nominations for the Edward R. Murrow Award (submitted by CNN Radio Network management) and shared in two Peabody Awards and an Alfred I DuPont-Columbia University Award. Harry retired in early 2010 after 42 years in radio.
