Robert "Flash" Gordon


After graduating from the New York School of Announcing & Speech in 1964, Flash returned to Augusta to begin his career in radio at WAUG. Using the name "Bobby Styles" (he was a sharp dresser), with his distinct voice and his ability to add flair to his on air persona, he caught the attention of "The Godfather of Soul" James Brown. Brown hired him as a DJ at WRDW,and later named him as Program Manager for his 3 radio stations in 1965, WEBB in Baltimore, WJBE in Knoxville and WRDW in Augusta. Flash also worked at WOIC in Columbia SC and WTHB in Augusta. In 1974 he worked as Southeast Regional Promotions Manager for Mercury and Polygram Records, he promoted Jerry Butler, The Ohio Players, Bachman Turner Overdrive and many other artists.  Flash currently owns two music stores in Augusta and works at WKZK AM Augusta as a gospel announcer, and is a host on the Longest running Gospel Show on Television , The Parade of Quartets.
