Michael Faherty
1938 -1993
Mike Faherty was born on April 20, 1938 in Trenton, New Jersey and graduated from Trenton Boys Catholic High School. He attended Rutgers University before serving with the New Jersey National Guard. His first job in radio was at WBUD in Trenton. H then moved to WPAC in Patchogue where he was on the air and in sales. In 1960 he joined KYW in Cleveland as an account executive. From 1964 until 1981 he worked for rep firms in New York and radio stations in Boston, New York and Chicago. Along the way, he earned his MS in Business at Columbia. 1981, 2011 GRHoF Founders and Directors inductee Jim Wesley named him VP and General Manager of WSB in Atlanta. In 1989 he became Cox Executive Vice President of Radio. Faherty was president of the Henry W. Grady School of Journalism and the Georgia Reading Service for the blind. Michael Faherty died in 1993.
