Larry Lane

1952 - 2014


Larry Zachery was born March 24, 1952 in Five Points, Alabama. He graduated from Turner High School and attended Radio Broadcasting School in Atlanta. His 42-year radio career included jobs at WIGO, V103, WQXI and WSB 98.5. He was known throughout the city of Atlanta as “Night Train Lane”, “Larry Darnell” and “Larry Lane”. Reportedly he was the inspiration for the character “Venus Fly Trap” on “WKRP”.  Larry volunteered his services with the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, coached little league baseball, and was active in his church. He died in 2014.


The Georgia Radio Hall Of Fame is a Georgia non profit corporation and a  501 (c) (3) organization.
